Rust en Vrede is a Stellenbosch vineyard established in 1694 by Simon van der Stel.

Gallery

A historical vineyard, Rust en Vrede started producing wine under the guidance of the Engelbrecht family in 1978, and its red wine was the first South African red wine to be named in Wine Spectator’s top 100 wines of the world.
Wines produced include Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and assorted blends, as well as potstill brandy.
Visitors can taste the vineyard’s full range of wines at its tasting centre and can combine tastings with a winemakers’ lunch. The centre is open daily, Mondays to Saturdays, from 9am to 5pm, and Sundays from 10am to 4pm. Lunch is served daily from noon to 3pm. Reservations are recommended for Rust en Vrede’s restaurant, which serves a six-course or experience menu.
