Vergenoegd Löw

One of South Africa’s oldest operating wine farms, Vergenoegd boasts a manor house that is a national monument in the typical Cape Dutch style that has been faithfully restored. In addition to producing wines, the estate also offers luxury hospitality. Sustainability is also a priority, as evidenced in the estate’s indigenous gardens and wetlands. Integrated farming practices include the use of Indian runner ducks and Dexter cattle to control pests and weeds.

Wines produced include Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Merlot, Cabernet Franc Rosé, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc MCC, Cape Tawny, Port-style wines, and selected blends.

Wine tastings are available on the estate in historical venues or out of doors, in addition to food-and-wine pairings with local dishes. Tasting room hours are Monday to Sunday. Dining options include curated meat and cheese platters. Luxury accommodation packages and spa facilities are available, and garden meanders and art walks on the estate grounds allow visitors to explore their surrounds. The estate can cater for events such as weddings and boasts its own non-denominational chapel that can seat up to 80 guests.
