A carbon-neutral winery, Backsberg aims to produce wines by employing holistic principles. It is a family-operated concern that achieved its carbon-neutral status in 2006.

Backsberg has been family run for four generations and was founded by Charles Louis Back in 1902. In this time, the farming operation has shifted from mixed fruit, grapes, and livestock to a focus on winemaking.
Wines produced include Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Pinotage Rosé, Rosé, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, and selected blends.
Backsberg’s tasting centre offers a selection of sweet and savoury pairings, with platters available during the summer months. Booking is advised.
